Ledbury Choral Society, formed in 1962, is a small, friendly group of over 60 -70 dedicated singers. The choir is not auditioned and anyone is welcome to come along to a rehearsal and have a go. The choir presents three or four concerts a year in Ledbury and is active in the local community. In the past this has included carol singing for residents of Leadon Bank and performing at Eastnor Castle (as part of fundraising efforts for Eastnor Church).
The choral society relies on support from its members and the wider community in order to continue to present community activities and exciting concerts of high quality with professional soloists and orchestras.
A typical concert year includes:
-
A major choral work, usually with orchestra and professional soloists, at Easter.
-
A summer concert featuring varied repertoire from the Renaissance period to the modern day, as befits a summer’s evening.
-
Whenever possible, a Come & Sing workshop is programmed into January.
-
A major concert at the beginning of November.
-
A celebration of the Christmas season in December concludes the year with a popular community event.

The wide variety of choral pieces performed in recent years has ranged from Monteverdi’s Beatus Vir to The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins.
