Simon was an organ scholar at university, studying physics and German in the U.K and music in Germany. After a teaching career in secondary education, he moved with his family to Austria for a sabbatical year that somehow extended to become eleven. Returning to England in 2018, he now works as a piano tuner and freelance musician.  

He is musical director for the Marches Military Wives Choir and is accompanist for examinations and several Herefordshire choirs. Simon is also an organist, composer and translator. 


He holds diplomas in piano performance and composition.

His compositions have recently been performed at The Three Choirs Festival, Hay Festival and the Ledbury Poetry Festival. 

Ledbury Choral Society has been pleased to feature Simon’s compositions in past programmes, the most recent being Dawn, a setting of a poem by Tim Keyes who sings bass in the choir.
